I was with Directline for 6 years with the GTI but a customer for over 10+ years, same mods every year (no points, no accidents, full NCB) then they said they would not offer a renewal and no reason given......got quotes and went with Admiral for £380, which is the same as what I paid with Directline.  Mehh!

Had my Edition 30 a year now so was about time I put up a thread of the ups and downs of running a high miles Edition 30. Previously had a mk5 gti shadow blue 3 door nbsp DSG for 7 years. After a short time with a modern Audi I decided it was time to find an Edition 30 with a better specification than my last car had to be a 5 door and dsg and no sunroof.

I am probably not the best person to explain this, there might be some variations in door controle modules.
What i can say is that i ended up searching youtube and the forum for most of the information on pins and vcds coding and what not. It was a more of figuring it out as i went along kind of thing. sorry i wasnt much help.

The problem is the internal bore of the metal discharge pipe wears away from engine rocking, which no amount of new seals will fix.
In the end I got a very low mileage S3/6R discharge pipe with a mint bore and a 6R intercooler and the problem went away. nbsp I also went with the S3/6R boost hoses as cutting the bayonets off the stock hoses isn'#039t quite as good. Reason being

Hey as the title suggests my Gti has sometimes started to click when trying to start So the starter is on its way out. im trying to order one online and the company i get starters from says there are many different ones so are asking for the part number on starter. Is there any easy way to get to see this code??? thanks for any help.

Hi, does anybody know whether 19" VW Montevideo 19” Alloy Wheels will fit and work on a 2006 Mk5 golf gti with no problems regarding rubbing etc??

Parts were ~290 euro's (new bonnet, side sills and one front fender). Other welding etc labour + full respray cost around 1800 euros... so around 1750 gbp all in all. This is eastern europe btw, UK price I don't even wanna think of :D

Thank you for sharing the experience. Mine is a 2006, it says AC on the climatronic menu.
I have read and hear that the MK5 GTI HVAC system was not very good designed but it can not be that bad... I have the car since 6 year aprox and always had this feeling.

The car came in two blacks - a flat black and a diamond Pearl black. The Pearl black was the LC9Z code. Hence your car must be the flat back. I think the other ED30 colours were Tornado Red, Candy white, steel grey and reflex silver.
